Bio:

Fotini Galanes

After studying illustration at Pratt Art Institute and returning to her home town in Buffalo, Fotini has worked as both illustrator and muralist. Her images have appeared in various publications, signage and over 25 mural installations. They have been completed in pediatric health care and learning facilities for clients such as Children's and Woman's Hospital, Roswell Park, Fisher-Price and Ledgeview Elementary. While now pursuing her career as a fine artist, art in pediatric facilities continues to be a personal commitment.

In 2008 Fotini began to exhibit her contemporary graphite drawings approaching a lifelong need to communicate her search for aesthetic tolerance. She draws directly onto ground porcelain devouring space with a mechanical pencil motivated by her fascination with textures, surfaces and human interaction. A number of these works have since been procured in numerous private collections and the permanent collection at the Burchfield Penney Art Center in Buffalo NY.

Fotini is currently a member of the Buffalo Society of Artists and has had her drawings and installations exhibited at The Albright Knox Collectors Gallery, The Burchfield Penney Art Center, Big Orbit Gallery, The Castellani         Art Museum, Studio Hart and The Western NY Artists Group.

Since 1998 Fotini's work has helped raise over $70M for local charitable and artistic foundations in the Buffalo and Erie County community.
